600 Minute Challenge 2024

The Challenge

The 600 Minute Challenge started as a fundraising activity for the Sports Campus back in 2017, and even after the Sports Campus was complete, the challenge has remained a popular whole-school activity every February (except for a break during our anniversary celebrations last year!) Whether its playing sport on our all-weather 3G pitch, lifting weights or rowing in the VIVA fitness suite, taking  part in after-school PE clubs, or just walking the dog, it’s still as important as ever to encourage EVERYONE to get active! We are once again challenging all students, their families, staff, alumni and members of the local community to take part in 600 minutes of activity during the month of February. It’s free to join in!

The Rewards

Every student who completes the Challenge will be awarded 5 house points, and those students who sign up before the 9th February will also be eligible to receive a 600 Minute wristband! (while stocks last – collect from PE Office).

PLUS, everyone who successfully completes the Challenge will be automatically entered into the prize draw to win an engraved brick, displayed on the Sports Campus building for posterity.

And most importantly, everyone who takes part should feel an increased sense of wellbeing for their efforts!

Ideas and resources to help you get active:

We’ve together a list of a range of ideas of activities available locally which you can check out if you need inspiration about how to build up your 600 minutes throughout February: activity ideas sheet.

How do I enter?

1/Decide how you’ll track your minutes

You can track your minutes using your own activity tracker app/watch.

Or, if you prefer paper and pen – keep track of your minutes throughout February using our 600 Minute Challenge activity log.

2/ Students who want to be in with a chance of receiving a wristband need to submit a sign up form by Friday, 9th February.

3/ Get started. You can do your 600 minutes during school. or outside of school. Everything counts. The earlier you start the easier it will be.

4/ Submit your completion form at the end of the month to show us how you got on. We will use this evidence that students have successfully completed the Challenge for awarding house points.

If you have any queries, email Ian Gould (Head of PE) – igould@royallatin.org or George West (Assistant Headteacher) – gjwest@royallatin.org

Good Luck!
