The 600 Campaign Goes Virtual

“It seems more vital than ever before that we succeed in giving young people the right opportunities to be physically active, to nurture their mental wellbeing, and to bring the community together”

Jo Ballantine

An update on the Campaign from our Director of Development, Jo Ballantine

The welfare of our young people and of our community is at the forefront of all our minds. Coronavirus and the challenges it has brought into our lives will inevitably make our fundraising task even harder, particularly because fundraising very often relies on being able to gather people together, and on face to face conversations. We’ve cancelled our calendar of meetings and events, which is inevitably already having an impact on our charitable income, and is likely to continue to do so in the months ahead.

However, we remain 100% committed to delivering the Sports Campus as soon as we can, and we won’t rest until we’ve done so. We hope you’ll agree that it seems more vital than ever before that we succeed in giving young people the right opportunities to be physically active, to nurture their mental wellbeing, and to bring the community together to learn from our experts. The mission remains intact, and our resolve renewed.

Now for the good news!

It’s fantastic to see that the construction team is back on site and working hard to start building our new 3G pitch. The FA approved, full size pitch will be ready for use by all students in September, as well as by local clubs, community groups – and any of you! It will transform the amount of activity students are able to do all year round, and will change the sporting landscape in Buckingham for the better.

What we’re doing

The 600 Campaign team is working just as hard as ever to try to raise the final £450k we need for the sports building which will sit alongside the pitch. Staff, the parent/alumni Campaign Board, and the Student Campaign Board, are continuing work as usual behind the scenes, to try to find innovative ways to keep fundraising and enable you to continue to support the campaign. We’ll be inviting you to take part in some fun fundraising initiatives in the months ahead, as well as asking for your thoughts and ideas – we’ll regularly post updates on the latest activities on this page, so watch this space!

We’re here to help

We understand that in the current situation some of our supporters who donate via direct debit may need to pause their donation schedule with us. We totally understand if that is the case – please don’t hesitate to contact us and we will arrange this with you. Similarly, if you want to start donating, please be reassured that you will be able to pause or alter your donation schedule at any time should your circumstances change.

We miss seeing you!

If you do feel able to show your support for the project and give our fundraising a welcome boost, or just want to send a message to us, please get in touch with me any time at jballantine@royallatin.org, or head to our Sports Campus Donations page to make a donation online. You’re also very welcome to book in a call or video meeting with me anytime to discuss the campaign, or hear about our latest progress.

Thank you . . .

. . . for your ongoing support, for your understanding at this challenging time, and for your messages of encouragement, which are always greatly appreciated.

Sending our very best wishes to you and your loved ones,

Jo Ballantine
