About FRLS

The Friends of RLS was formed in January 2003 and is a team of parents and staff. Our work revolves around organising and supporting events for parents and students with the aim of bringing the school’s community together.

We work as a committee with the help of parents who have volunteered to be a part of our ad hoc Helpers Group.  We work on the basis of “please come and help for as much or as little time as you can, without any commitment”.  We meet every 4-6 weeks to plan events, discuss finances and come up with new innovative fundraising ideas.

Over the academic year we have a number of events which are our “regulars” – Family Quizzes, Summer Ball, over 18s Disco and Run the Claydons.  All our events and refreshment “pop ups” raise funds for the school and the money is spent on things that the school would like but need extra help funding.  On average we raise £11000 per year.

Examples of what the money has been spent on:

  • Financing the annual maintenance of the school’s minibus
  • Purchasing two outside table tennis tables
  • A new flagpole
  • Contributing to upgrades of IT suites
  • Furnishing a counselling room
  • Decorating the Library and Green Room
  • Contributing to upgrades of the Music Dept IT equipment and software

Please do get in touch if you would like to be involved in some way, however big or small, and follow us on social media.

Forthcoming FRLS events

We are currently finalising our events for next year. Please check back soon for an update of our planned events. We have a really exciting year ahead!

Cash for Clothes
Rainy Day Boredom Buster – why not have a clear-out session in the next few days to help generate as much cash as we can – imagine one 5kg bag from each student would bring over £3k which will go towards new equipment for the school. Why not ask your family/friends/neighbours too? Houses will be competing!
Bags have been given to your children (no doubt they will be found at the bottom of their school bag). We will collect in the bus bay every morning 8:15–9am from 11th–15th November. Kids can also bring in a bag a day if you don’t drive in. More bags can be found in the Student Office.

WE WANT: Clean clothing; socks, new tights, bras, swimwear, underwear, paired shoes, jewellery, perfumes, cosmetics etc (new or part used), handbags, suitcases, belts, hats, accessories, ties, gloves, wallets & purses, watches, scarves, bedlinen, towels, curtains, etc. NO PILLOWS or DUVETS please.
HELPERS ARE ALSO WANTED ON THOSE MORNINGS. Please email frls@royallatin.org
