Welcome

I am delighted to welcome you to our school website and hope it gives you a good flavour of life in the Latin.

We take pride in our long history, we celebrate our current successes, and are excited by our plans for the future.  The Royal Latin is a state funded co-educational Grammar School which became an Academy in 2011.  It has always been a school in which individual students are nurtured – our overarching aim is to develop the skills and qualities necessary to enable all students to be happy and achieve their academic and personal potential.  Of all of these words, ‘happy’ is the most important and we strive to provide a strong system of support to ensure every individual student is cared for.

We offer our students a wide range of opportunities, both in and out of the classroom to allow them to make this aim a reality.  At A-level we have over 23 subjects to choose from, whilst at GCSE and KS3 students benefit from a similar breadth of offer.  We are also able to broaden the curriculum through our programme of Electives which allow students to extend their learning beyond the formal curriculum.  We believe that students benefit significantly from experiences beyond the classroom.  To this end, we provide a huge number of trips and visits across all department areas.

The Royal Latin School has high academic standards.  Our motto is ‘High Expectations For All’ and we are very pleased to see the progress which our students make over and above expectations each year.  Our outstanding results place us amongst the top performing state schools in the country. Crucial to this success is the expertise and enthusiasm of staff, all of whom are specialists in their own subject areas.

We celebrate our 600th anniversary in 2023 and the 600 Campaign is an ambitious three phase plan to develop the school’s facilities in order to give our students the resources they need to make our seventh century even more successful than ever.   If you would like to see the progress we are making for yourself, please explore this website further and make an appointment to visit us.
